another day spent on college admissions paperwork

We spent another day on college admissions stuff. Bill has his Ball State Architecture School paperwork and essay done, and I helped him put together the first few pages of his portfolio. We went through his digital flash card and picked out which pictures of France and Spain (and one of his kitty Matty) to print out on the photo printer, and we attached them to plain white paper. We also took a couple of pictures of an architecture project he has at home ( a house made of Popsicle sticks) and took pictures of that (complete with Godzilla ready to attack it!). The rest of his portfolio will consist of work he has on the computer at school for his architecture independent study.

So that will go off in the mail this week, and then he has to start filling out the paperwork for all of those scholarships...

I am thinking more and more of taking a week off in June. We can celebrate his high school graduation, go to Chicago for King Tut, and maybe go up to Wisconsin for a few days (we can camp somewhere up there or else stay at a hotel with an indoor water park) and visit the Dells, the Frank Lloyd Wright farm (with lots of cool things he designed), and go to a little outdoor theater that someone told me about. We could have a lot of fun, and I think he would really enjoy it.

I had to just tell work which holidays I can work next year, and that means vacation requests for the entire following year will soon follow. So right now I am thinking a week in June, one at Labor Day (in case Bill goes away to school that means I can help him move to his dorm), and one in November (the kids' birthdays). And a few long weekends here and there, especially in the fall and winter to go visit my older son if he does move away. So no elaborate trips next year...just settling Billy into school, and celebrating his high school graduation.
